I'd Vote for You

Saturday night was our ward Trunk r Treat and chili cook off. I made white chicken chili for the competition. I don't think anyone touched it - except Matthew. I had a spoonful of it just to taste. Yikes. Serious lacking in the sodium department!! I was supposed to use chicken broth but just used water and didn't compensate in the flavoring. I did find a ramen chicken flavoring packet in the cupboard but opted not to add it. I should have. Oh well. Needless to say, at the end of the night there were plenty of leftovers for us tonight.

After church today I added the ramen packet and warmed it up. Oh wowsers! All of a sudden the chili was amazing. I could taste the flavors of the spices I had put it in yesterday. Turns out it really needed a day to soak up the flavor. I might have had a chance at winning. Jared was surprised to discover that I had taken the chili last night. Seems he knew last night at some point though bc I think he made this same comment then, but he told me that he wished he'd known I had a chili in the contest. He would have voted for me :) He was surprised that I didn't win.

Such a sweet boy :)

Last night when we were talking about the breads and chilies we each picked, he told me that his cornbread was so good and that it tasted really sweet. I thought he'd gotten the same one as Aaron, but later when we went back up the food table he pointed to the pan of cornbread that I had brought :)
